Stratford Ecological Center Hike

Stratford Ecological Center Hike Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Visit a living farm, where you can hike and experience agricultural practices up close. Visitors can even buy farm products in season! The hike itself is a very rewarding one. Start on the Swamp Trail and enter the 95-acre Stratford Woods State Nature Preserve. Explore a buttonbush swamp before turning back south. Here the Well Loop Trail leads along a creek where excellent spring wildflowers carpet the forest floor. See acres of trillium blooming in spring, and pass an old well from days gone by.

Continue working downstream and join the Sugar Shack Trail. Here you will pass a maple syrup–making operation. The Cemetery Trail leads uphill to where early Delaware County residents are interred. From here the Hush Trail opens to a pond. Work your way back through the demonstration farm, completing the trek."
