Great Seal State Park Loop

Great Seal State Park Loop Professional Review and Guide

"This longer trek explores Appalachian foothills rising from the iconic state park outside Chillicothe. A great training hike, the circuit presents over 2,000 feet each of ascending and descending during its 8-mile length. Start near Lick Run, then climb Mount Ives, a solid pull. Curve around Bunker Hill, then head north for more hills and Rocky Knob. Wander through a rock garden on a spur before descending a deep hollow and completing the loop.

The hills upon which you walk are depicted on the signet. And what better Buckeye State scene? The forested sandstone heights set a hiker’s heart to pounding on the drive in. Beauty is found not only in views from afar but also up close, in wildflower-loaded hollows and emergent stone outcrops poking through the steep tree-covered hillocks."
