Whitetail to Lake to Beechnut Trails, Beartown Lakes Reservation Professional Review and Guide
"East Side runners and hikers love Beartown Lakes for the reservation’s fast trails that glide throughout its 149 acres and around 22 acres of open water. Nestled between Auburn and Bainbridge Townships with beech-maple woods offering a respite from the antagonizing sun, Beartown Lakes is a perfect summer retreat. Come back when the snow falls for sledding near Lower Bear Lake. You’ll find a trailhead at the northern end of the parking lot, hiking north into the woods on gravel trail. Soon you’ll split to the left for a windy hike on the Whitetail Trail, Beartown Lakes Reservation’s longest trail at 1.5 miles. Your initial woodsy hike will quickly be interrupted by a brief jaunt past a sledding hill before submerging once again into the woods, the trail now natural and dirt covered. Whitetail will then take you over a tributary of the adjacent Spring Creek as you wind south on flat, easy trail."
