Sugarcreek MetroPark Professional Review and Guide
"Sugarcreek is a simple but interesting park. It does not have a lot of “attractions” per se: no farm, no nature center, no horseback riding lessons. But it’s a pleasure to visit. There’s fishing in Sugar Creek and a variety of hiking trails that lead to some interesting natural features. One not to be missed is the “Three Sisters” cluster of oak trees. The sisters are three oak trees that started growing in 1440. They won’t last forever; already there are signs of decline. But they still exist and, at just 0.7 mile from the parking lot, are worth the little bit of time it takes to find them. Not too much farther away on the same orange trail is the “Osage Orange Tunnel.” It’s a natural tunnel formed by the overarching branches of ancient Osage orange trees. They were originally planted in the late 1800s to create a fencerow."
