Maumee Bay State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Located on the shores of Lake Erie, this is an interesting place to camp because of its wetlands. As a habitat type, wetlands hold a richer diversity of fish, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals than any other. That certainly seems to be the case here, where more than 300 species of birds alone have been recorded. You might see anything from distinctive pintail ducks to killdeer and bald eagles. A couple of trails take you to all that. The easy 2-mile boardwalk is an especially good bet, given its interpretive signs and wheelchair access. A visit to the park’s nature center beforehand is worthwhile so that you know what to look for. Of course, no mention of any park on Lake Erie is complete without talking about the fishing, and Maumee Bay offers access to terrific walleye angling."
