Lake Hope State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Completely surrounded by Zaleski State Forest and taking in nearly 3,000 acres, this park has a big, rugged, and rustic feel to it. As you’d expect, natural wonders are the main attraction. The park has about 23 miles of single track mountain biking trails that, individually, range in length from a half mile to more than 7 miles. There are also more than 10 miles of hiking trails and—if you want to extend your walk—33 miles of backpacking trail, complete with shelters, in the nearby state forest. Whether you are traveling by spoked wheel, foot or even by boat in the park’s quiet 120-acre lake, be sure to be on the lookout for wildlife. Beavers are common in the lake’s many inlets and you can find a great blue heron rookery containing as many as fifty nests just downstream of the dam."
