The park is separated into four sections by two intersecting county roads. This hike follows the Yellow Legs and Killdeer Trails to explore the more remote section of the four. You’ll pass through an open meadow that encircles a wetland, then cross a bridge over a stream. More meadow hiking leads to the out-of-the-way Pintail Marsh and its observation deck. Finally, you’ll swing back around through the second meadow and view three ponds, one of which hosts an impressive heron rookery.
