Mohansic Lake and Crom Pond Professional Review and Guide
"Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park, one of several parks along the scenic Taconic Parkway, contains both Mohansic Lake and connected Crom Pond. When paddling here, you have to contend with road noise from the Taconic—which you can just barely see off through the trees. FDR Park has few boaters, especially in the off-season. Most people come for other types of recreation: swimming in one of the largest pools in the United States, hiking on an extensive network of trails, biking in summer, and cross-country skiing and ice-skating in winter. Dubious at first about paddling, given the road noise, we became converted after paddling into Crom Pond, a wilderness retreat, where road noise just barely impinges.
