Walkway Over the Hudson Professional Reviews and Guides

"Feel like youre walking on water with a visit to New Yorks newest park and arguably, one of the most breathtaking views in the Empire State. Instead of a simple out-andback hike on the longest pedestrian walkway in the world, follow the loop trail and cross back over the river via the Franklin D. Roosevelt Mid-Hudson Bridge."

"Cross a brilliantly repurposed railroad bridge high above the Hudson River, and cross back on the Mid- Hudson Bridge for some of the valley’s most spectacular views.

If you only hike one trail in the Hudson River Valley, the Walkway Over the Hudson may be the one for you. Whether you choose to hike the entire loop or you simply walk out onto the former Poughkeepsie- Highland Railroad Bridge to take in the amazing river views, you will have no finer opportunity to appreciate the Hudson River and its beautiful valley than from this vantage point.

The wide, smooth, modern walkway opened on October 3, 2009, and now stands as the longest elevated pedestrian bridge in the world. Visitors can stroll 212 feet above the river’s surface and admire a spectacular view of the river to the north and south."
