Mohonk Path Professional Review and Guide

"In the northern Shawangunks, west of New Paltz, these adjoining private properties
introduce the Mohonk Area splendor—one of inspiring cliffs, grand views, and fragile
habitats. Mohonk Mountain House, a National Historic Landmark and commercial
resort, has served outdoor recreationists since 1869. Although access to the castlelike
house (hotel) is restricted to paying guests, its regal exterior complements the trail-
webbed Lake Mohonk setting. Linked by an extensive trail network, Mohonk Preserve extends the realm of hiker possibility with its attractive woods and rock features."

This was expensive, but well worth it. The gardens are gorgeous and includes a maze. If you have kids there is a small park. The trail to the tower is not too hard and features a pretty pond below. The eagle cliff is amazing but be careful going by yourself. A lot of the trails revolve around the giant lake. There are plenty of cubby areas to stop by and eat. There is even a little museum to take a peek at.

We were guests at the Mohonk Mt. House, so hiking was included. It had rained and the trails were soggy, but it was a nice hike. Fall colors and views were great.

Nice wide trails are super for family hiking. Catch some climbers at the Trapps. Neat scrambles as well. Also great in the winter as well.
