Harriman State Park Lakes Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Situated just north of the New Jersey border and only about 45 minutes from New York City, the lakes of Harriman State Park provided a remarkable surprise with fine paddling close to the city. It takes us two days of exploration to visit the eight bodies of water described here, paddling more than 20 miles, most of it at a very slow pace to maximize wildlife viewing. Habitat type: nine small ponds and lakes, ranging from 36 to 297 acres; geology, harrimanrocks.rutgers.edu"

what a disappointment!
broken glass, garbage anywhere you can imagine. what a tragedy for people to trash this beautiful place. was warned by locals of fishhooks in ponds as my 2 dogs were swimming. broken glass and litter even in more remote areas, do not recommend this place.
