Eagle Cliff Ascent Professional Reviews and Guides

"One of the last of America’s great nineteenth-century mountain resorts, Mohonk Mountain House stands at the heart of a magnificent 26,000-acre natural area in the Shawangunk Mountains of New York. The sprawling Victorian castle stands guard at the edge of the beautiful Lake Mohonk near the top of the Shawangunk Ridge. The tranquil resort includes miles of trails and carriage roads well suited for walking and cross-country skiing. The grounds feature magnificent gardens with a Victorian maze, a greenhouse, picnic areas, a museum, stables, sports facilities (including a full-service ski shop), and an observation point known as Sky Top Tower. Once strictly a summer resort, Mohonk Mountain House now accommodates vacationers and conferences year-round. Day-use for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and other activities is welcome, provided a meal has been purchased in the dining room. Surface quality: Groomed and double tracked. Fees: yes."

"A carriage road walk from Mohonk Mountain House heads to the gazebos and cliffs overlooking the Shawangunks and the Catskills, with a walk around Mohonk Lake."
