Southampton Beaches Professional Review and Guide

"The Town of Southampton, named for one of the British Earls of Southampton, is the oldest English settlement in New York. Puritans from the Massachusetts Bay Colony settled the area in 1640, and were said to have lived in peace with the already established Shinnecock Nation, who today still live in Southampton on the oldest reservation in America.

The town comprises eleven beaches, seven miles of oceanfront, four historic districts, and a dizzying array of upscale boutiques and fine dining restaurants. Start: Agawam Park in Southampton. Length: 13.0 miles. Riding time: About 1 hour. Best bike: Road bike or hybrid. Terrain and trail surface: Asphalt."
