North Shore Professional Review and Guide
"The Town of Brookhaven comprises more than sixty communities, including nine separate villages, spanning from the north to the south of Suffolk County. Wading River, the first village on this route, consists of a tiny cluster of stores and restaurants situated around a pastoral pond, settled by eight families from New England on the North Shore of Long Island. The layout and architecture of Wading River bears strong resemblance to quintessential New England villages, particularly evident in the lovely, steepled, Congregational Church and village green.
NY 25A on the return leg of the ride includes a chaotic, high-speed intersection. Bypass this entirely by following the directions below to take a few hundred-feet of sidewalk to the turn onto Westchester Drive. Most of the roads are designated bicycle routes with
“Share the Road” signage, but may not have wide road shoulders or bike lanes."
