Wilsey Creek Falls Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Three falls in one—a pleasant surprise on a seasonal creek. The Schoharie Creek Preserve, a 198-acre area of protected land on the west bank of Schoharie Creek, reaches its northern boundary here at Wilsey Creek. In the coming years you will find marked trails that provide access to all the preserve land; these were under construction when we visited the falls, and the potential for scenic hiking and wildlife watching here seemed very promising.
Wilsey Creek may disappear altogether in a dry summer, but in most seasons you will find this three-part falls flowing from the shale cliff you see under the bridge. It’s actually three falls—one on each side of the bridge, descending separately to the last segment a short distance downstream. The top falls is a short, stepped cascade down layers of the ubiquitous central New York shale, falling to larger shale slabs that bring the water gradually down to creek level."
