High Vista Nature Preserve Trails

High Vista Nature Preserve Trails Professional Review and Guide

"This preserve is part of the area at the south end of Skaneateles Lake, designated by the Audubon Society as an Important Bird Area, containing critical habitat for birds. Particularly at risk are the cerulean warblers that nest here. The trails are well-marked and well-maintained. They lead through an old apple orchard and a young forest. Fair Haven Creek, which bisects the loop, is filled with many small waterfalls. The forest floor as well as tree canopy offer a sea of green. Hike when leaves are off the trees to see a view of Skaneateles Lake in the valley below. Surface: Dirt"

"A forest floor covered with wildflowers in late spring and summer, a small creek tributary meandering through a young forest . . . this peaceful woodland is a well-kept secret."
