Rollins Pond Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Driving by the entrance booth that serves both Fish Creek Pond and Rollins Pond Campgrounds, we were admittedly apprehensive. The first campground of the two, Fish Creek, was packed to the gills with cavalcades of RVs and noisy hordes. Although many sites were along the water, they were badly spaced and bursting at the seams with vehicles of all sorts—not our idea of a peaceful night in the woods. We stayed positive and drove through Fish Creek along the only road to Rollins Pond. The young woman at the registration booth had told us that tent campers prefer Rollins, and we wanted to know why. Short drives to Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, and Tupper Lake make this a great location to start explorations of the High Peaks Wilderness, the St. Regis Canoe Area, and beyond. But whether or not it was truly a hospitable place for those of us who travel light and sleep in tents was still to be determined."
