Located on the east side of Rochester, this 1,800-acre bay is fed by Irondequoit Creek. Bluffs, scarred by the elements, loom over its southeastern and southwestern shores, spawning such place names as Inspiration Point and Point Lookout. A deep trench runs down the center. In summer anaerobic degradation of organic material on the floor drastically lowers oxygen levels below 18 feet. Key species: Brown trout, steelhead, coho salmon, northern pike, walleye, and black bass
