Highland Park

Highland Park Professional Review and Guide

"The nation’s largest and most diverse collection of lilacs highlights this Frederick Law Olmsted-designed park, the jewel of Monroe County’s park system.

Beginning at the purple crosswalk—a crossing that gets a fresh coat of lilac-colored paint every other year—this walk wanders through the collection of more than 1,200 lilac plants, representing more than 500 varieties, many of which were developed here in Rochester by the city’s and county’s horticulturalists. Most of the lilacs usually bloom during the second and third weeks."
