Death Falls (Secret Falls) Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"A quick walk takes you to a lacy curtain of water over a sheer drop, shattering into a hundred tiny streams on the rocks below. Death Falls gets its name from Death Brook, the stream on which it flows, and if there’s a story to be told about how this brook got its name, we have not been able to find it.
Perhaps that’s why many locals refer to this waterway as Secret Falls, a more romantic and more palatable name that won’t scare young children away from walking here. The falls itself, a delicate cascade with myriad streams trickling down
the rock face, presents a gentler image than many of the pounding chutes and slides featured on so many Adirondack hikes, making it seem to be one of the least deadly of the region’s water features."
