Black Creek Preserve

Black Creek Preserve Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Shady forest, vernal pools, and a dramatic suspension bridge over a dark, burbling creek—this preserve packs a lot of scenery into its 130 acres.

Protected since 1992, Black Creek Preserve offers a network of three trails that follow the tannic acid–dyed Black Creek, wander among seasonal vernal pools, and lead to water- level views of the Hudson River. It’s easy to see the entire preserve in a single hike, as the trails provide viewing access to its entire 130 acres."

"Named for the black-bottomed creek that flows through this nature sanctuary, Black Creek Preserve is a hidden gem along the west bank of the Hudson River. Acquired by the land preservation organization Scenic Hudson in 1999, tannic acids from the preserve’s many hemlock trees contribute to the unique beauty of Black Creek." Read more

Nice easy hike for dogs, kids, anyone. A few steep parts, but nothing too taxing. A well kept trail.
