Woodland Valley Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"When one speaks of hiking in the Catskill Park, it is hard not to mention Slide Mountain. At 4,190 feet, Slide is the highest peak in the Catskills and the crown jewel of the Slide Mountain Wilderness, which makes up 47,500 acres of the park. Great hiking abounds here, and since Woodland Valley Campground is centrally located, it services backpackers and families alike. Sure, the more spacious Kenneth Wilson Campground is only 13 miles away, and is a nice place to start your explorations of the central Catskills. But if you want to walk directly from your tent onto some of the most popular trails in the region, Woodland Valley is the campground for you."
