Lake Montauk

Lake Montauk Professional Review and Guide

"Enjoy the fun of an active lake that features a United States Coast Guard station and pockets of serenity. Traveling to Lake Montauk will give you an appreciation for why Long Island was
named as such. Try driving there on a summer weekend, and this will be a painful realization as you sit in traffic on US 27.

Setting all that aside, Lake Montauk is a beautiful paddling destination near the easternmost point on Long Island. The first time I drove out to Montauk, I was surprised that the terrain at the eastern end of Long Island suddenly becomes rugged and hilly. It seems more to me like northern New England and less like the flat, sandy mid-Atlantic coast we typically see."
