Fifth Avenue: Museum Mile and the Gold Coast Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"The Big Apple loves its big parades, and several of these lengthy displays flow along Fifth Avenue, on Central Park’s eastern border. Among them are annual parades celebrating
St. Patrick’s Day (Irish heritage), Greek Independence, Puerto Rican Day, Israel, Steuben Day (German heritage), Columbus Day (Italian heritage), and Pulaski Day (Polish heritage). But Fifth Avenue is extraordinary for many other reasons.
From East 82nd Street to East 110th Street is Museum Mile, an astonishing collection of first-class museums. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is the best known, but the others—such as the Guggenheim, Cooper Hewitt, Jewish Museum, Museum of the City of New York, and El Museo del Barrio—are excellent, too. (One evening a year, usually in June, these museums throw a block party, the Museum Mile Festival.)"
