Mongaup Pond

Mongaup Pond Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The Catskill Fish Hatchery, a rather unassuming complex but an important part of the regional economy, lies less than 3 miles from the entrance of Mongaup Pond Campground. It provides fish to local waterways that attract a large percentage of the visitors to the western edge of the Catskill Forest Preserve. Mongaup Creek, Willowemoc Stream, and the Delaware River are favorites of those who can tie a good fly. And boat-bound anglers make pilgrimages to Long Pond, Frick Pond, Quick Lake, Hodge Pond, Waneta Lake, and especially Mong aup Pond, home to chain pickerel, golden shiner pumpkinseed, yellow bullhead, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, and white sucker."
