Luzerne Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Straddling the “blue line” marking the border of the Adirondack Park, the town of Lake Luzerne is known as the “Gateway to the Adirondacks,” and Luzerne campground is just inside this boundary. Like much of the area, the surrounding forest was once owned by a lumber company and heavily logged in the 1940s and ’50s. When the state purchased the land in the 1960s, horse trails were already established on the property. Now the trees are thick again, and this pleasant campground has the unique features of horse camping and two separate swimming areas—one reserved for campers only"
