Doodletown to Dunderberg Trail

Doodletown to Dunderberg Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The hike through Doodletown on the 1777 trail and up and over Dunderberg and Bald Mountains represents one of the more historically interesting and physically challenging hikes in this region. Inhabited since prior to the Revolutionary War, this hike passes by a former bustling hamlet, a cemetery, and two mines, and travels along a trail once taken by the British under Sir Henry Clinton on October 6, 1777, to attack Forts Montgomery and Clinton during the Revolutionary War. The hike begins on a gently ascending trail, levels out to an easy walk through Doodletown, and finally takes on the challenge of climbing and peaking Bald Mountain. Numerous views are provided for human hikers, as well as numerous streams, sights, and sounds for canines."

This is a great hike. Great vistas and interesting historical sites. Lots of different scenery. The hike up Bald Mountain is not for the faint of heart, but it's all worth it once you get there (I just wish it hadn't been such a foggy day...).
