Peaked Mountain

Peaked Mountain Professional Review and Guide

"Can’t choose between lakeside hiking, exploring an isolated pond, hiking beside frothy cascades, or climbing a mountain for a panoramic view? Why choose? Peaked Mountain has it all.

The main trail is easy and features a variety of waterscapes, including a pristine lake, a cascading brook, and several beaver dam meadows. The last 0.8 miles along the trail are steep and difficult, but the summit has a unique perspective: At the peak, you can clearly trace your entire trip back to the shore of Thirteenth Lake.

Wheelchair accessible campsites and bathrooms are at Thirteenth Lake."

"In Siamese Ponds Wilderness, this split-personality trail joins an easy hike to Peaked
Mountain Pond with a rugged summit ascent of Peaked Mountain. The final 0.3
mile to the summit laughs at gravity, uniting boot-skidding, steep dirt surfaces and
severe bare-rock inclines—all the more tricky on descent."

The description was accurate. The last 0.5 is quite a challenge. If you want a workout, this is it! Once you reach the top you understand why you went through it all. The view is breathtaking. You feel you have just climbed to heaven. Take plenty of water. Only trouble was in finding that Garnet that's supposedly in one of the rocks on the mountain. We had no luck.

Excellent trail. Not very crowded at all...especially for a beautiful holiday weekend. View from the top was great.

Well maintained trails. Trail is very easy to get to the base of peaked mountain with several nice campsites. Climb is not very hard because it is very short. Views are specatular and you can see the trail and lakes that you walked past.

A nice hike along the lake, then a steep climb. It would have been fun to canoe then hike.
