St Regis Lakes and Spitfire Lake

St. Regis Lakes and Spitfire Lake Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Lower St. Regis, the northernmost of these lakes, suffers much less from development and sports a more varied habitat, including extensive marshy areas, and several lean-tos for camping. While Paul Smith’s College dominates its environs, most of the shoreline remains undeveloped. Botanists will find the small inlet west of the college particularly interesting. Its boggy perimeter harbors a classic northern fen ecosystem, thick with leatherleaf, sheep laurel, bog rosemary, cranberry, sweet gale, sphagnum, pitcher-plant, rose pogonia, and tamarack. Habitat type: lakes with many islands and coves"
