    Raquette River

    Raquette River Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Long-distance paddlers can paddle from Long Lake, carrying around Raquette Falls, taking out at either access, or continuing through Stony Ponds to Upper Saranac Lake. The Raquette (“rocket”), second longest river in New York, features prominently in early Adirondack lore, from Ralph Waldo Emerson’s poem “The Adirondacs” about his explorations in 1858, to Nessmuk’s (George Washington Sears) voyages in J. Henry Rushton’s 10-pound Sairy Gamp in the late nineteenth century, to the Old Forge-to-Saranac-Lake guide-boat race of this century. Still very popular today, the Raquette accommodates many paddlers in July and August. Habitat type: slow-flowing, marshy river"

The Raquette Falls Trail in Tupper Lake NY, is an awesome hike. It is an easy to moderate hike. It was a nice early fall day with lots of sun.
