Norman J. Levy Park, Merrick Professional Review and Guide
"As you climb into your boat and begin your trip south on Meadow Brook, you’ll feel as if you’ve entered another world altogether. Gone is the hustle and bustle of the park with its joggers, hikers, and stroller pushers. Still water, fl uttering birds, blue sky, the scent of wildfl owers, and the wind rustling through the grass will be all that you experience as you make your way south toward the bay. Only about 10 feet wide for most of its run, the brook is bordered by tall phragmites on the right and a wide assortment of trees and shrubs on the hill to the left. Birch, silver and red maple, and willow trees share the area with alder bushes and the occasional tree of heaven, while pesky poison ivy fi lls in much of the space in between."
