Moriches Bay Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"If you’re planning to visit the barrier beaches along Moriches Bay’s southern shore, you’ll fi rst have to hug the beach and paddle past the marked boundary of the Moriches Coast Guard Station, at the tip of the peninsula. Note the signs and metal fencing around the property, and try not to get too close, even if you’re curious. That said, I like to check out which, if any, boats are fl oating in the station’s small dock area, and I often take a quick side trip around the peninsula to see for myself. Should you do the same, you may be able to see some of the Coast Guard’s fl eet tied up at the dock or tucked away in the boat garages built in to the station house. It’s always reassuring for kayakers to see that the Coast Guard is there and ready should we need any help."
