Top Cottage Trail Professional Review and Guide
"Hike through the forest planted on orders from President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and follow the swath cut by the twentieth century’s strongest and most influential First Lady. The loop trail called Eleanor’s Walk offers a vigorous stroll through healthy woodland, with a short, steep change in elevation as you approach a pond.
Once you’ve completed the short loop, we recommend continuing on the Top Cottage Trail, a challenging uphill hike to the house FDR had constructed so he could “escape the mob” of favor- seekers who crowded his calendar throughout his presidency. FDR himself drove his car up this winding road to Top Cottage—back when this road was passable by car."
