    Meacham Lake and Osgood River

Meacham Lake and Osgood River Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Although the state owns the land surrounding Meacham Lake, it allows motorboats and personal watercraft. On summer weekends, the lake’s surface crawls with noise and wakes. We vastly prefer paddling up the Osgood River on the south end, easily reached by putting in at the dam on the outflow and paddling east along the shoreline. Even when the wind blows from the north, abundant aquatic vegetation on the lake’s south end damps the wind-driven swells. On a very windy day, we had little difficulty traversing over to the river and back, even though we had to paddle in wave troughs. Habitat type: large lake, marshy stream, boreal forest"
