Ellis Hollow Nature Preserve Trails Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Long-time residents of the area, Barbara Keeton and her family, donated these 111 acres in 2000, so it’s available for all of us to enjoy. Don’t be fooled by the start of the trail. It passes through a NYSEG power line rightof- way, but soon you’ll be in a magical forest of oaks, maples, hickories, basswoods, black cherries, white ashes and black birches. The preserve hugs the flanks of a hollow formed by Mt. Pleasant and Snyder Hill with a tributary of Cascadilla Creek flowing through its trough. Surface: Woods trail"

Unlike Eldridge Nature Preserve in which I got lost last time and which has the similar trail length as this one.. the trail was well-marked and it was obvious that a lot of people use this trail. I didn't come across with anyone however, only one extra car in the parking area. That car was gone by the time I came out of the forest. It's a nice quick place to getaway that's not too far from Ithaca.
