Mary Island State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Along the northern border of New York runs the St. Lawrence River, which flows from Lake Ontario through Canada and finally empties into the Atlantic Ocean. As the river flows more than 800 miles to the Atlantic, it passes a 50-mile stretch filled with more than 1,800 islands. These islands range from roughly 48 square miles to several square feet and, along with more than 3,000 shoals, make the river a veritable maze. Navigating this maze are Jet Skis, powerboats, sailboats, cruise boats, yachts, and even ocean liners, though these behemoths remain within the shipping lanes. Nestled within this maze is Mary Island, a heavily wooded 12 acres that offer the ideal setting in which to enjoy the beauty of the St. Lawrence."
