Stony Pond Trail

Stony Pond Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This Adirondack Park trail north of Irishtown and Minerva traverses varied terrain to visit Stony Pond along with its neighbors: Little and Big Sherman Ponds to the south, and Center Pond to the north.

A hardwood and conifer forest, beaver sites, and fall foliage complement the serenity of the blue ponds."

Found this trail quite good in the snow. A snowmobile trail that follows around Stony Pond and Big and Little Sherman, and right past the Brook Falls Yurts. Awesome trail. Great for snowshoeing, and when you reach that lean-to at the Stony-Pond-what a relief! Great place to have a snack or lunch. The lean-to perches right on the pond perfectly-no motorized boats allowed. Lots of snowmobiles in the winter. On the trail there, after about 1.2 miles, check out the beaver dams. You might even see a beaver (we didn't though).
