Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"For the 88 miles it passes through New York State, the Appalachian Trail meanders over relatively flat, wooded terrain, never rising past 1,500 feet. For some, it is one of the least memorable sections of the trail. More than 10 miles of the route, however, passes through Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park, a 12,000-acre gem with some of the best hiking in the Hudson Highlands. And just a few hundred yards from the famed trail is an attractive campground, nestled into one of the park’s many ridges."
