Manorville Hills Trail

Manorville Hills Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Offering a remote wilderness area near Long Island’s fork, Manorville Hills boast some of the most challenging trail terrain anywhere on Long Island. Co-owned by the New York State DEC, the U.S. Navy, and Suffolk County, the park offers a serene and peaceful hike within a busy area of the island. An extensive system of unmarked trails in this park makes it important to follow this trail loop using a GPS device or compass and pedometer.

Begin your hike from the parking area alongside Route 111 on the western end of Hot Water Street (closed). An extensive system of unmarked trails in this park makes it important to follow this trail loop using a GPS device or compass and pedometer. Proceed east on Hot Water Street, a sandy road, as it slopes gently uphill amid pine, sweet fern, wild blueberry, and other dense vegetation."

Can't imagine reviewer ann seeing broken glass and debris every step of the way! Manorville is much better than that. New marked hiking trails radiate from a fairly new County Park trailhead on Hot Water Street. Protective barriers have reduced illegal ATV use considerably. Some trails are eroded from years of abuse, but others are great, and this is still as remote as one can get on L.I. Map of new trails not yet available, but L.I. Greenbelt Trail Conference has a good map of the general area, including the Paumanok Path.

This trail is awesome! great place to get lost in the true serenity of the woods. Not a good park in hunting season so be cautious of hunting dates. Great huge play land otherwise though!!

I used to be one of those ATV riders in this park YEARS AGO! The police got ride of that! I had a great hike in there today, it was great! I had my dog off the leash... I did not see anyone at all. A real pine barrens experience. You might want to bring a GPS though. Its a very big park for L.I. and LOTS of trails. you could easily get lost.

Not fit for pedestrian use. If you value your life and your dog's life do not attempt this trail. Sharp glass and metal debris littered every yard of this hike. Rogue ATV riders and other sketchy characters make one feel vulnerable. Is this where the decapitated head was found?
