This 270-acre man-made lake is totally surrounded by Allegany State Park. Its average depth is 15 feet, and it drops to a maximum depth of 40 feet. The floor is very rocky. As a rule, the state annually stocks this place with about 4,800 browns averaging 9.5 inches, 400 two-year-old browns up to 14 inches, 3,900 rainbows averaging 9 inches, and 225 15.5-inch “bows.” Come fall, whopper surplus and spent breeders are also released. The rainbow trout take worms, minnows, Krocodile spoons, Exude Erupt paste, and Exude Corn Niblets. Some invariably make it to winter, when they’re taken through the hard water on ice jigs tipped with wax worms, mousies, or spikes. Trout can be taken year-round. Key species: Brown trout, rainbow trout, brook trout, northern pike, black bass, bluegill, yellow perch, and brown bullhead
