Canandaigua Lake’s major tributary, this stream was world famous for its spring runs of rainbows until Lake Ontario took the limelight in the 1970s. Tips: The first week of April is most productive. Now that the crowds concentrate on the tiniest Great Lake’s tributaries, opening day on Naples Creek is better than ever, offering elbow room and loads of wild rainbow trout in the 2- to 5-pound range. Egg sacs are the most popular bait, but worms, salted minnows, and tiny Rooster Tails also work. The minimum length for trout is 15 inches, and the daily limit is three.
