Conklin Gully

Conklin Gully Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Walk up the creek to discover a series of gentle cascades in the shelter of a highwalled shale gorge. What’s a High Tor? The Department of Environmental Conservation says it’s a peak
or a craggy hill, and that certainly describes the gully you’re about to explore in this protected area.

Layers and layers of shale stack up to create high walls on either side of the stream, the craggiest parts visible through the verdant foliage that does its best to obscure the rock. The result is an imposing mix of green and gray that provides shade while you walk up the creek, while making it just about impossible for most casual hikers to even think of climbing their way out of the gorge."
