Plattekill Preserve Falls

Plattekill Preserve Falls Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A glorious horsetail falls pours into the bottom of a hidden gorge.

Somehow this 208-acre preserve managed to retain its natural state through centuries of timber production and bluestone mining in the surrounding Catskill Mountain region—and for this, hikers everywhere should be grateful. Enlightened members of the Griswold family deeded Platte Clove Preserve to the Catskill Center for Conservation and Development back in 1975, and since then the center’s staff and volunteers have worked to keep this gem open to the public for limited use.

You are welcome to hike here, but mountain bikes and horses are strictly prohibited. Once you see the rocky, steeply pitched path to the falls, these rules will make a great deal of sense."
