Detailed Trail Descriptions from Our Guidebooks

Bill Ingersoll
"For years the fire tower on Mount Adams languished in disrepair, slowly being dismantled by natural elements. However, the public acquisition of the Tahawus property and the attention this has brought to the mountain has resulted in a surge of renewed interest in the fate of its tower and the stunning panorama of the High Peaks it provides. While most of the mountain will be added to the High Peaks Wilderness, the summit itself will not. This will allow for the retention and repair of the tower, as well as for the retention of this exciting and rewarding hike on the fringe of the High Peaks." Read more
