Although the reference is way out of date (2002) and you no longer have to have a permit or arrive early (as we did, before the Nature Center opened), the trail itself was as described - varied terrain and moderate. The beaver dams and houses were great as was the view from the top. The Paul Smith Nature Center is also very nice with several other trails that looked worthwhile. I think you could easily spend an entire day at this location looking through the Nature Center and hiking all of the trails. They even had a butterfly house!
