"A kid-friendly hike, even for small children, with a number of cliff-top views en route to a fire tower. There are sixteen Bald Mountains in New York State. This one is tagged with the suffix “Rondaxe,” the name of a lake just to the north. However, the lakes on the other side of the mountain are the main draw on this short hike.

Bald Mountain (Rondaxe) forms an imposing ridge along the northwestern side of the Fulton Chain of lakes, which begins at Old Forge with First Lake and flows through eight lakes en route to Raquette Lake. The Fulton Chain is a popular canoe route. From Bald Mountain, you can see most of the Fulton Chain."
