Talcott Falls

Talcott Falls Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Shale walls form many steps for this sparkling falls to descend. This very pretty waterfall descends a series of dozens of small shale steps, allowing the water pouring over the rock to catch the light over and over again, making the
falls sparkle in the dappled sunlight.

Adding to the spectacle, the falls turns nearly 90 degrees about a third of the way down the total slope, making it unusual among the many shale-supported falls you will find south of the Adirondack Mountains. In 1974 the falls and several resources around it were named to the National
Register of Historic Places, in part because of the area’s connection to an indigenous civilization known as the St. Lawrence Iroquoians."
