Greys Lake Trail Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"The Greys Lake Trail leads you from one spectacular subalpine lake to another in five short miles. You may begin your journey amid the hustle and bustle of Angel Lake, where anglers, picnickers, campers, and sightseers mill about, but solitude is quickly gained once you start to make progress up the trail. For much of the summer, you?re sure to enjoy not only the wide variety of wildflowers that grace the trail along the way, but the verdant slopes surrounding the lake as well. Once you reach the lake basin, the impressive spires and steep rock walls of the East Humboldt Range present a stirring sight.
Wide-ranging views of Starr Valley below with its ranches and circular irrigation patterns are quite pleasing also. Plenty of options are available for further wanderings for those who don?t mind stepping off the trail; an easy cross-country route to remote Smith Lake is within the abilities of most backpackers. More ambitious undertakings could include a climb of Greys Peak or a mountaineer's traverse of the range."
