    there are dozens of better hikes in the tahoe area. true, the view from the top is amazing but you can get the same view from the top of mt. rose, and that hike is much more beautiful. this is simply walking up a long wide gravel maintenance road. because it's so wide, you get zero shade. it's got signs of human development everywhere. you might as well just stay on the highway. in short, this hike is a real eyesore, relatively speaking. and it stinks on a mountain bike too.
