St. Rose Parkway Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This ride takes advantage of an area that would normally be left undeveloped. To make the ride more enjoyable, art has been places in strategic places and a child’s fairytale has been incorporated into the ride. As you start the ride, listen carefully and you may just hear the roar of big cats in the distance. In the 1980s and 1990s, Las Vegas was a boom town—one with severe growing pains. At that time there was only one road that allowed residents to quickly travel from the east to the west part of the valley—Lake Mead.

The road, so named because it eventually led to the lake, was the main thoroughfare for motorists and was a heavily traveled road. As the city grew, an east–west beltway was eventually constructed, taking up much of what was then the Lake Mead road. What was left became St. Rose Parkway, being named after the nearby St. Rose Hospital. St. Rose Parkway turned into a busy 55 mph, eight-lane thoroughfare that begins roughly at Las Vegas Boulevard and goes until it eventually becomes Pecos Road at the newly created beltway."
